Packaging Design FAQ

We try and make hits. Not nice packaging that blends into the shelf of other nice products, but design people reach for and remember. A pack has to work everywhere now: on shelf, in a product photo, on an Amazon listing, in the unboxing at home. We design for all of it. Manufactur also builds the brands our packaging belongs to, across food and beverage, supplements, beauty, hospitality, and entertainment. That range is part of our secret sauce, because the best ideas rarely come from inside the category. Recently that's meant matcha cafes, men's grooming, animal-free dairy, and hard seltzer. Cha Cha Matcha borrowed from music and culture, not the matcha aisle.

Manufactur designs packaging end to end: primary packaging design, secondary packaging (cartons, shippers, multipacks), full visual systems across SKUs, DTC unboxing experience design, flavor system design, competitive and retail landscape analysis, material, format, and sustainability recommendations, and mailers, inserts, and subscription packaging.

Both, and the jobs are different. On the retail shelf, the box has to do the selling in about three seconds. In ecommerce, the box is doing something else entirely: it's the unboxing, the first physical moment someone has with a brand they've only seen on a screen. We design for both very intentionally. Usually it's one system, but with different considerations and a different experience at each end.

Primarily food & beverage, supplements, skincare, wellness, and consumer goods: categories where shelf differentiation and unboxing experience both matter to the purchase decision.

Yes. This is one of the more technical parts of the work. We build flavor and format systems designed to flex across SKU counts (new flavors, sizes, limited editions) while staying visually unified, so cohesion doesn't break down as a product line grows.

Design and creative direction are where we live, including material, format, and sustainability recommendations. For production and vendor sourcing, we can advise and make strategic referrals depending on what the project calls for.
