Overview
Two Leaves and a Bud is an independent organic tea company founded in 2004 in Basalt, Colorado. Named for the exact part of the plant you pluck to make great tea, they have spent two decades being notoriously picky so their customers don't have to be. From compostable whole-leaf sachets and iced teas to chai lattes and ceremonial matcha, the brand has built an international reputation on quality ingredients, no shortcuts, and a genuine commitment to the planet. In 2025, Manufactur partnered with Two Leaves and a Bud on a full brand evolution and custom Shopify rebuild, taking the brand from where it was to where it deserved to be.
Brand World
Two Leaves and a Bud already had a playful spirit. We expanded it. A custom illustration suite made that personality more tailored and intentional, building out a visual language that balances fun with the craft and quality the brand is known for. The illustrations were animated throughout the site, bringing small details to life and adding warmth and delight to the experience.
On the typography side, we overhauled the font system entirely. A modern serif takes the lead for headlines, used at large scales across the site and brand touchpoints to bring a sense of character and confidence. A new condensed bold sans-serif handles callouts and utility moments, and a colorful badge system ties it together, giving categories and product features a punchy, scannable identity.
Color got equal attention. The brand's existing dark blue stayed as the anchor, grounding everything with the familiarity customers already knew. We introduced a soft off-white as the unifying background, warm enough to feel inviting and neutral enough to let everything else breathe. That foundation is what makes the product colors work, each one refined and pushed to feel more vibrant and alive, popping with personality without clashing or competing. The whole system feels cohesive, considered, and a lot more ownable than before.
Website
The old site didn't reflect the brand. We rebuilt it from the ground up on Shopify, with equal focus on storytelling, performance, and conversion.
The homepage is built around a custom tea discovery interface, a central and intuitive search tool that lets customers filter by mood, caffeine level, format, and more. With a catalog as large and varied as Two Leaves and a Bud's, the goal was to make finding the right cup feel effortless. The vibes-based filtering system does exactly that, turning what could be an overwhelming browse into something quick, fun, and personal.
Product detail pages are rich and immersive. Each one feels distinct, with color coding and individual iconography that tells the tea's story visually before a customer reads a word. The pages go deep on product education and brand storytelling while staying clean and easy to move through. Every detail, from the color of the page to the icons used, is specific to that tea, making each product feel considered and worthy of the quality inside the bag.
The latte line got its own dedicated treatment. Nice Chai, Nice Matcha, Barista Chai, Barista Matcha, and Two Roots Golden Latte are presented as a cohesive family, each with a distinct personality but unified by a visual system that makes the range feel scalable and brand-right.
For the café and wholesale side of the business, we built a completely overhauled experience tailored to barista partners and wholesale buyers. It's professional, streamlined, and purpose-built for a different kind of customer with different needs, a part of the site that often gets treated as an afterthought, given the weight it deserves here.
Content
Original photo and video production rounded out the engagement, giving Two Leaves and a Bud complete control over their brand world from design to imagery to web. The content was built to serve the site and extend the brand, warm, natural, and grounded in the same quality-without-pretense ethos that defines the tea itself. With creative, brand, and content all aligned under one roof, the final product is cohesive in a way that's hard to fake: everything looks like it belongs together, because it was made that way.
