Arguably the most (deservedly) hyped bar opening of 2014, Good Times at Davey Wayne's channels all those nostalgia vibes of the 70s and packs them into a Hollywood nightlife oasis. Working with their concept to establish the visual branding elements, logo, menus, collateral, and website design was a lot of fun—and still remains one of our favorite LA venues.
Our goal was to strike a totally sweet balance between authentic 70s tack and modern design iies. Bonus: here’s a rare look behind the scenes at a couple of alternative designs that ultimately didn’t win out!
From the logo design to the custom textures, this is what a website would have looked like in the 70s—if your dad had broadband.
The Houston Brothers are renowned for their cocktails, and true-to-form, Davey Wayne’s delivers. Our goal was to create menus with the brand’s vintage aesthetic viewed through the lens of modern print and design sensibilities. Sounds easy right? Wrong, sucker! It's a tall order but we loved working on it. These babies have successfully scripted conversations between bartender and patron ever since.
